Bio

Steve & Kim Wright have been creating music together for 15 years, and it goes without saying...this husband & wife duo shares a connection that's truly amazing to hear and watch! With a musical style initially self-coined as "Jazz-n-Roll", a jazz approach to rock and soul music, their recorded material and live performances take you on a Jamband ride of sonic sounds and emotions as the two weave in-and-out of Soul, Rock, Jazz, Gospel, Funk, Avant Garde and World music seamlessly. To capture the broad stylistic appeal and sound of their band (DaysAhead) now when asked, the duo has taken to labeling their music as simply....Musical Grooves.  Deciding early on in their career to write message music of value, this powerful duo follows in the footsteps of their predecessors with the understanding that it's beneficial and culturally imperative to write music that makes you think while simultaneously making you groove!

Steve and Kim's courage and comfort to ‘leap without looking’ is refreshing and “revises the spirit of the golden era of bands from the 70's & 80’s" (Michael Heyliger, Rhythmflow). The release of their 2005 debut cd Turning Point garnered rave reviews, national and international radio play, as well as award recognitions.  As one reviewer puts it, “The compelling voice of Kim Wright and energetic artistry of guitarist Steve Wright (is) a near perfect marriage artistically” (Rob Young, Contemporary Jazz Magazine).

Nominated as Best Duo/Group of the year by SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Awards and Best Band & Best Album of the year by RockWired Awards, and landing at #4 and #5 on CMJ Jazz charts and #12 on JamBand charts, DaysAhead has had the good fortune of performing their music in the USA, countries of the EU including the UK, as well as in Zimbabwe, Africa at venues such as the Intwasa Arts Festival, Montreux Jazz Festival, NewYork Harborfest, Capital Jazz Festival, Bay Fest, Atlanta Jazz Festival, Capital Jazz Supercruise (Bermuda), The Velvet Note, Apache Cafe', Churchill Grounds, and 606 Club London.  The band has also been featured performing live on broadcast networks including ZBC Zimbabwe TV, BET Jazz Soul Sessions, CBS Better Mornings, and TBS Storyline Soundstage.

DaysAhead and its members have co-billed and performed with some of the best in the business including Chaka Khan, Al Green, Gnarls Barkley, The Brand New Heavies, Jhelisa Anderson, George Duke and many more throughout the USA, Europe, and Zimbabwe.

Steve Wright; Guitarist, Producer, Composer, Songwriter, Musical Director and Kim Wright; Vocalist, Songwriter, Lyricist also work as guest clinicians and workshop tutors for music events, colleges, and community arts centers; and as private music instructors for music schools as well as their own music-teaching studio, AMH Music Studios.  DaysAhead’s most memorable show was performing as special guest artist and clinicians at the annual Intwasa Arts Festival in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. Sharing their music with such a rhythmic and spiritual group of people was truly inspirational.  It is Steve & Kim's goal to spread their music around the globe as performing-teaching musicians emphasizing improvisation and expressive freedoms.

Steve and Kim have a plethora of music ready-to-go as they sift through the jewels to combine an even more relevant and eclectic compilation of songs for their sophomore CD and Album.

Days Ahead’s debut CD can be purchased here on their website, iTunes, Amazon, and Spotify.
